Are You Making Life And Death Decision? - Think Again
The sharp knife winked at me in the dark closet and whispered softly in my ear, "Come play with me. There is nothing called failure here. You will surely win. Just strike me deep down your nerves and I will set you free from this painful world." It almost hypnotized me. I could see nothing but the sharp edge. I closed my eyes, with a warm breath and a smile I accepted the challenge that leaded only to victory.
When I was all armored for the emotional war a small knock at the door just brightened everything in the room. It was my friend. She had come for a usual late night talk unaware of the emotional warfare deep inside me. After the dinner and a sweet phone call with Dad and Mom, I stretched forth my arm for a sweet goodnight sleep.
The next day morning that woke me up with a start was the hue and cry from the neighborhood. A 24-year-old boy had committed suicide. For the family the day before the chaos, was just the normal day. But when they woke up everything had changed. They beat their chest, wailed and cried – just like a passionate art to invoke their God to bless their son with zestful life again. Alas! The God didn't pity them.
After few hours everything was numb in the colony. The parents eyes were still filled with irrepressible grief. They were the only ones who had lost everything. Maybe the boy had won his emotional warfare, but he didn't know he was fighting with his own loved ones. His family had lost the war and the son. He forgot to analyze that he hadn't sinned or harmed against the world but his family, who still see the open door just anticipating that their child will knock inside the house in open arms to gift them love, joy and celebration.
Two days passed away. Another news blazed the colony. Now it was the death of an 18-year-old-boy. He had been to a trip with his college mates to a nearby waterfalls. But, since his parents would not allow his adventurous trip he lied to them that the college was taking him for a 'WonderLa' (Amusement park) trip. He and his another friend were driven by the hideous water current, just to meet death. Some said, it was an accident, some murder and the rest suicide. Whatever the reason, the loss was made, that could nurture and help a family at their old age.
Who had dreamt that this kid that bid everybody bye with a joyful mode would return like a fearful dead body, that his mother and sisters were not allowed to see. Destiny plays a foul game, but the two boys could have changed it.
Well! I have learnt that some decisions should never be self centric as it may harm thousands of loved ones around us. Next time you decide to do anything that may harm you remember that may be someone else who could be under that sharp knife.
