Soon, fridges that will text or e-mail you when food is going off!

After a breathless schedule at work, and traveling for hours at the jammed roads, all you want to do is open your fridge to find some yummy eatables to treat your taste buds. But, what if you find the whole electronic food store empty or packed in with stale food? Don't you wish you had a reminder at your mobile or at work that you had to pack in some food today? Well some scientist have made such rare possibility a reality. Here are fridges that will be able to send consumers email or text alerts when food is going off. It is being created by a group of research scientist at Manchester University

Ten scientists are working on a more advanced device that will be able to send consumers email or text alerts. Project head Dr Bruce Grieve said: "Food wastage costs in the UK are massive."

UK boffins have created a battery-free label which can pick up when food is on the turn, reports the Sun. The disposable 5p gadget — like a security label on a CD — measures the temperature of food and the time it is stored.

It will be used by stores next year for bulk foods.
