China Wins Miss World 2007 Title

Amidst cheers and applause Miss China won the Miss World 2007 title in her own country on Saturday December 1, in front of an estimated two billion viewers around the globe. The twenty-three-year-old Zi Lin Zhang, was crowned the winner in Sanya, China. Miss Angola came second and Miss Mexico third at the beauty pageant, held on the southern holiday island of Hainan.

A total of 106 nations attended the pageant held in the Crown of Beauty Theater, making it the second largest edition, tied with Miss World 2003. The delegates visited China on November 2nd, 2007 and sited a number of popular spots in mainland China and view the preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games.The 106 contestants recorded the official torch relay anthem Light the Passion, Share the Dream for the 2008 Olympics Games as a major cooperation between the Beijing Olympic Committee and Miss World Ltd.

Miss World 2007 did not have continental zones while it included another 5 spots as Beach Beauty, Beauty With A Purpose, Sports, Talent and Top Model. The format was similar to the Miss World 2004, with the exclusion of the Contestant's Choice award.
