They Are Living Somewhere....

I remember that as children, my sister and me used to flee as we see a white ambassador. No, we weren't and now we are settled well in our lives. Still now, when I see the white ambassador at a deserted road, the fear creeps into me. It was in a white ambassador that kidnappers had abducted their child targets. The fear of being kidnapped or thrown to a world, where my parents and dear ones are not there still grips my mind.
During my childhood the newspapers carried the news of missing children at least once in a day. They might have slipped into the plightless doom or run away
from the home. The stories were that beggars on the street, kidnap kids and turn them into child beggars or pick pocketers. I used to analyse the face of the child beggars to see any sign of the lost family on their faces. I even secretly slipped anything extra into their bags until one of them ran away with my small earring.
The growing up years slowly faded the rooted fears from my mind. Then it came back to the mind with a full blast as I read the story of the abducted children from Noida. I could imagine the tears of the mothers who were waiting for the return of their darling babies one day or another. Imagine this scenario: They have spent sleepless nights thinking that someone had kidnapped their child and, for decades, maimed and exploited him/her. Now all of a sudden they realize that their children are no more.
The scenario is definitely different now. Children are getting abducted even from the safety of their rooms. However, they can never be seen in streets and parents expect their dear child's lifeless body at any moment on their doorstep. The reason may be anything from a simple jealousy, monetary issues, perverted fantasies etc. However a bud that you brought into the life fades before it blooms.
What is the solution to come out from this heart-bursting situation? I remember that my aunt trained her kids to repeat the house address even when they were 2-3 years old. We were constantly reminded to be away from strangers and not to accept any charming gifts from them. I also remember that no kids walked alone to their home as we returned from the school.
In the present day it is difficult for the children to cuddle into groups at a tender age. Even then, you can train them to trust their intuitions. As in old days ask them not to open the doors of safety in front of strangers. Always place the aura of safety around them as the grand parents at home, safety school ambience and their friends from known families. Let your life also not get doomed to the tearful solution that “ They are living somewhere…"
