The mind game

My mum always said (and still does), "There is nothing that you cannot do." May be a 'maternal instinct' I thought. Today years later, I truly understand what she really meant. If you didn't know mind is a great power, well, now you know. As I tell 'mind,' so is 'faith.'

Let me tell you a short incident that happened somewhere in the world to a mother. A mother was driving with her child, when she met with an accident and the car she was driving toppled. She was thrown out of the car and survived but her child was caught in the car. The infant had to be rescued; all knew that, but how? Panic-stricken people all around were rooted to their place unable to act. On seeing the hapless child, so desperate was the mother that she single handedly toppled the car back on its wheels. Needless to say, cheers followed and she was a hero.

If you have closely watched yourself, in the most desperate of situations when you have the strongest will to survive, you have an upsurge of strength both physical and mental, which pulls you through and makes you a fighter. Where does all that strength come from? Everything lies within you but needs to boost. And this boost fortunately or unfortunately happens at the most desperate point of life.

Man is a storehouse of strength but very few realize it. Each one of us when faced with a live or die situation bring out all the hidden strength for want of survival. The few who give up perhaps never felt the need to live. Take for instance this young man who committed suicide. Reason-: he wanted to study abroad and wanted his parents to finance. Parents reasoned out with him that they were in no position to finance him and the best way would be an education loan. Son commits suicide and in the note states, what I just narrated. Relatives flock the parents some angry and some sympathetic. Parents just say this: "We are sad that we lost our son, but even sadder that he did not know how to live."

How true. I'm not here crusading for or against suicide. Mine is just a survival note. A great poet once told, " the sweetest of smiles have the saddest of thoughts." It is only in the wake of pain that you gain your inner strength. It is only when you believe in yourself and have a surging need to win and pull yourself up that you will really see your strength. There is nothing that you cannot do-everything is in the mind.

Let me at this instance narrate an incident, which involves a very close friend of mine. This is about a very sweet girl aged 24, whose dreams, aspirations and life took a different turn. This of course makes her a changed person today, but otherwise I wish this had never happened. This girl lost her father as a child and lived with her mother and younger sister. With a strong will to live up in life and take care of her mother and sister she left her hometown and moved into a bigger city full of opportunities. Life went on well; in fact I lost touch with her for about a year. I met her again only to realize what life had made of her. Her mother passed away in a tragic accident and alone to fend for herself and her sister, there she stood with so much conviction, grit and strength. The only thing I asked her was "can you manage this" and she told me " I know life has been very unkind to me but I HAVE to survive. I have to take care of my sister and I will live. Though tough I will live." Her words still ring in my ears. The steel grit and conviction I saw in her eyes assured me that she would fight it out and yes she did. Today, both (her sister and she) are well placed in reputed companies and are doing well for themselves. This is what I call a survivor.

The science of Reiki tells you that when you think negative you are actually sending negative vibrations and something that has a positive impulse will also catch the negative vibration. Negative vibrations are stronger than the positive ones and catch on fast. That is the reason why spiritual preachers, healers and even doctors advice to keep negative thoughts at bay.

Do not get let down by troubles and tribulations. Like every cloud has a silver lining, each pain has a great lesson to teach. Learn your inner strengths and pick up the strings of your life. Great strength lies beneath you, tap it. "There is nothing that you cannot do."
