The Great Wide Open

Most of the people I know who have those goods, high paying high position jobs either complain all the way that it's a drudgery or end up changing course to something that would render all the consultation, precaution, time and money that went into making that decision so carefully made a waste. Life would be really boring if we had it all laid out on a silver platter despite the difficulties it would otherwise involve. Even at a point earlier if it seemed lucrative, at some point later down the line the human spirit will give into the excitement'n adventure when the need for it in ones life crosses the tolerable limit. Where that excitement lies is what I call "THE GREAT WIDE OPEN."

However much you might ignore it, you're going to end up coming back to it sometime unless you want to regret not doing that for the rest of your life. When one doesn't realize that, one loses the opportunity to experience it and would never understand what it is about. It is these very people who go against venturing into it.

Most people venture into it with something to fall back on if it doesn't work out because if passion doesn't pay well enough, one cannot consider it to a way to make a living. If you have what it takes then you will make. In the great wide open, there are no stagnant standards. The greater things it sees, the higher the standards get. Compliance with them is not necessary for success there.

Of any given time, there are rules in place. To keeping pace with the times and the change in them, regulations to these rules are made according trends, which sometime even go backwards. But every now and then a hero comes along and changes everything to start this process all over again. You may be supposed to be a hero or you may be supposed to be a "regulator". You could even be a "rule follower", all according to where you find you're place.

It is true that if you try hard enough, you can always be anyone you want to be and anything you want to be. If that's how it is supposed to be, if you follow a set of rules you can do anything you want to? How then can the truly talented be given the credit they deserve in such competition with talent that can be manufactured so easily with a little hard work? If a few people can do everything then what are the rest of the people supposed to do? There is a point where everyone can say that he has achieved what he is supposed to and then enjoy that achievement with everybody else who also would have. Why should anyone "work his ass off" when he doesn't have to? We are in the process trying to guarantee what we will never be able to and are disrupting the order in which life is made to go on in.

People say that to leave studies and follow you dreams is an easy way out from hard work. Little do they realize that in the great wide open risk is high and the odds are higher compared to the outside of it where risk is low and the odds are low. Outside the great wide open, what will never be able to be guaranteed people try so hard to guarantee. They will better off guaranteeing what they can and leaving the rest to chance. That's where their best chances lie.

If you're eventually going to end up coming back to the great wide open, why delay it? A dream conceived at an age one might consider too young to take dreams seriously is where dreams start. We should not choose what dreams we should dream. Then dreaming itself has no meaning. We should allow our dreams to discover us. When they totally occupy our endeavours then they are worthwhile following.

If the great wide open is meant for you, you should spend your better years gaining ground in it. Education then will only enhance your knack for what you do. This is a better option if the great wide open is meant for you. In it, there is a huge scope for "firsts". Your talent has a high possibility of being made into an art there.
