For many, however, the focus is singular: Nandini Gupta, the 21-year-old representing India, who stands just steps away from potentially bringing home the country's seventh Miss World crown.

The Girl From Kota Who Dreamt Big

Born in the heart of Kota's Sabzi Mandi, 21-year-old Nandini has travelled a long way-figuratively and literally from her childhood in Bhandahera, a village near Kaithun, Rajasthan. Her father, Sumit Gupta, runs a small business; her mother, Rekha Gupta, has always been her steady support at home. Nandini's journey began in familiar corners of Kota, studying at St. Paul Senior Secondary School, before moving to Mumbai to pursue Business Management at Lala Lajpat Rai College.

Crowned Femina Miss India at just 19, she followed up with a win at the Femina Miss Rajasthan pageant earlier that year. Her path has been anything but accidental, it's been a focused, step-by-step climb led by discipline, self-belief, and a clear goal.

Making Her Mark On The World Stage

At Miss World 2025, Nandini quickly made her presence felt by winning the Top Model Challenge, standing out with an effortless mix of grace and grit. But it's her outlook that continues to resonate.

When asked during the 2023 Femina Miss India pageant whether she would rather change the world or change herself, her answer came without hesitation: "I think I will change myself, because, just as appreciation comes from home and charity starts from home, change also comes from within." The words struck a chord for their clarity-rooted, thoughtful, and real.

The Show Unfolds With Glamour And Grit

This year's finale isn't short on star power. Hosting duties are shared by Stephanie Del Valle, Miss World 2016, and Indian presenter Sachin Kumbhar. The evening features performances by Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khattar, and a special appearance by Manushi Chillar, the 2017 Miss World and now a rising actor.

The emotional centre of the programme is the Miss World Humanitarian Award, being presented to actor Sonu Sood, whose relief work during the pandemic earned him national respect. He also joins the judging panel, alongside Sudha Reddy, philanthropist and entrepreneur, and Dr. Carina Tyrrell, Miss England 2014 and a physician. The panel is led by Julia Morley, Chairperson of the Miss World Organisation.

India's Pageant Legacy, Nandini's Present Moment

India's history with Miss World is long and luminous: Rita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017) have each brought home the title. Each winner reflects a different era, but all are connected by their sense of conviction.

Nandini's growing influence is reflected on her Instagram, where over 1 lakh followers tune in to moments from her journey-snapshots that range from stage rehearsals to stripped-down reflections. Her digital presence feels authentic, not manufactured, and mirrors the grounded confidence she carries on stage.

Waiting To Hear Her Name

As the competition reaches its final stages with one finalist from each continent answering the last question, Nandini stands steady. Every choice, every challenge she's taken on has led her here. Tonight, whether or not she walks away with the crown, she has already carved out her space.

For the girl from Kota, this is a chapter she's writing in full view of a country watching with pride.
