Natural Energy Conservation Day 2020: History And Significance Of This Day
Every year India observes 14 December as the Natural Energy Conservation Day. The day is being celebrated with an aim of preserving natural energy for the present and future generations in the best possible way. The day emphasises the conservation of natural energy to ensure that the future generations do not face any difficulty. Today we are here to tell you more about this day in detail.

History
It was in the year 2001 when the Indian Energy Conservation Act was brought into existence by the Energy Efficiency Bureau (BEE). The BEE is an independent body that comes and works under the jurisdiction of the Government of India. The BEE helps in formulating the rules and strategies needed for reducing the use of natural energy resources. It also emphasises on the optimal use of natural energy and minimising their wastage.
Significance
- On this day, several workshops are organised across the country with an aim of protecting the natural energy resources.
- People are encouraged to participate in various debate competitions, conferences and discussions.
- On this day, the BEE also highlights the importance of the non-renewable sources of energy.
- One of the aims of observing this day is to educate people about the harmful effects of global warming and the climatic changes.
