Indian Armed Forces Flag Day 2020: Interesting Facts About This Day
Every year 7 December in India is marked as the Indian Armed Forces Flag Day. The day is observed to honour the Indian armed forces along with all the men in uniform and martyrs who served India. The day is solely dedicated to the brave soldiers and those who took martyrdom while protecting the country.

The day is also observed to honour the families of these soldiers and martyrs. Let's read about some interesting facts about this day.

On
28
August
1949,
the
Indian
Government
decided
to
set
up
a
committee
under
the
defence
ministry.
It
was
then
decided
that
7
December
will
be
observed
every
year
as
the
Indian
Armed
Forces
Day.
2.
The
decision
was
taken
right
after
India
gained
its
freedom
from
the
British
Raj.
3.
The
main
intention
behind
taking
this
decision
was
to
look
after
the
family
and
welfare
of
the
defence
personnel.
4.
Initially,
the
day
was
observed
by
distributing
small
flags
among
the
common
people
and
collecting
funds
in
return
for
those
flags.
5.
The
funds
were
then
utilised
for
the
welfare
of
the
armed
forces.
6.
The
day
is
celebrated
with
an
aim
of
encouraging
citizens
of
India
to
take
the
best
possible
care
of
the
families
of
those
who
man
the
boundaries
and
protect
the
country.
7.
On
this
day,
the
citizens
of
India
not
only
honour
the
armed
forces
and
their
families
but
also
express
their
gratitude
for
serving
the
country.

The
fund
collected
on
the
armed
forces
flag
day
is
also
used
for
rehabilitating
the
battle
casualties
and
for
the
resettlement
of
the
families
of
the
ex-servicemen
and
their
families.

On
this
day,
all
the
three
armed
forces
of
our
nation
namely,
army,
navy
and
air-force
arrange
plays,
roadshows,
carnivals
and
various
other
cultural
programmes.
10.
They
showcase
their
skills
and
hard
work
in
protecting
the
nation
and
through
this
they
collect
a
considerable
fund
which
is
then
utilised
for
the
welfare
of
people
who
serve
the
nation.
