Stinkbugs
If you can get past the funky smell, these insects apparently add an apple flavour to sauces and are a valuable source of iodine. It is said that they are also known to have anesthetic and analgesic properties.

Grasshoppers, Crickets And Locusts
Grasshoppers are the most consumed type of insect around the world. The hoppers are believed to have a neutral flavour, so they pick up other flavours nicely. The locusts move in swarms and devastate vegetation, so what better way to turn them into meals!

Ants
This is a perfect alternate for people who are looking for food with less carbs! Studies reveal that about 100 grams of red ants provide some 14 grams of protein, which is more than eggs indeed. It also has around 48 grams of calcium, and a nice hit of iron, among other nutrients!

Bees and Wasps
Stingless bees are most commonly munched, with wasps a distinct second. People who consume these insects claim that it tastes like peanuts or almonds. Wasps, some say, have a pine-nutty flavour.

Butterflies And Moths
These insects are very popular in African countries, as they are an excellent supplement for children and pregnant women who have deficiency in these nutrients. They are highly sought-after for food and as the famed worm dropped into mescal, a Mexican liquor.

Beetles
Beetles are the most commonly eaten insects around the world. They are long horned, and come in different varieties. Eating beetles is a common scene in the Amazon basin or parts of Africa, and other heavily forested regions around the world.
