When an unmarried couple thinks of moving in together, there are many pros and cons that they need to think of. From selecting a society where it is okay to move in with your partner to accepting the other challenges that come along, all must be thought of very carefully.

This is something that happens even in the most liberal cosmopolitan city of India! But do you realise that there is a village in our very own country where it is totally cool to have a live-in relationship?!

This is a village from Rajasthan, where people make babies first and then get married, when they think that they can take up the responsibility of having a family!

They Are From The Garasia Community…

This community has gained a place of prominence in the Indian culture due to their unique lifestyle. People here are permitted freedom to select their partners. They can live here for years without getting married and they even have children!

The Women Have A Higher Authority

Women of this tribe have a higher status in this community and the rape and dowry death rates are almost nil. Most of these live-in couples depend on farming for their livelihood, before they get married. They get married only when they think they have enough money to sustain a family.

The World Knew This Tribe When…

The tribe came into the limelight when the marriage of a 70-year-old woman named Naniya Garasia was fixed to her live-in partner Kaali. Apparently, the couple had three sons who also got married on the same day!

The Families Live Together…

These community people have been living in the same house with their partners for years and also had children for years before they finally decided to get married, as money happened to come at a much later point in their lives. Until then, they were seen living together and having children out of the wedlock.

Another Unusual Practice…

This tribe has another unusual practice where the young girls are let out and are allowed to befriend with partners of their choice. This happens at a two-day 'courtship fair' that is held in parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. According to sources, they then 'elope' with the partners for 2 days and return to live together with their families. It is not necessary for them to be married to each other.
