Undersea Volcano in Tonga, Polynesia
The Tonga undersea volcanic eruption took place on March 16, 2009. This happened near the island of Hunga Tonga, which is approximately 11 kilometres from the Tongan capital of Tongatapu. Reports showed that after 4 days of eruption of this volcano, there was a strong earthquake that also struck the region and measured 7.6 on the Richter scale.
