Raghavendra Rathore Gives Futuristic Look To IBFW-13
It is a rare sight to be enthralled by the groom's fashion sense at a Bridal Fashion Show. But, India Bridal Fashion Week 2013 has come with its own set of surprises. Raghavendra Rathore presented his collection on Day 3 of IBFW 2013. It was quite a fresh change. Not only were the outfits strictly unconventional, the perspective itself was novel.
Raghavendra Rathore's India Bridal Fashion Week collection is best labeled as ‘futuristic'. He has thought about what the bride and groom will look like 10 years from now. That is why; Raghavendra Rathore has strictly kept away from conventional bridal fashion. He has used bandhgalas, dhoti pants and bright coloured suits for men. The women were seen in toga dresses and a variety of unconventional drapes.
Day 3 of IBFW 2013 had another strange twist. There was definite stress on men's fashion in Raghavendra Rathore's collection. Being a man, he felt that it was fair that grooms should get their share of the limelight. He purposely used bright colours for the men outfits so that they are not left with just blacks and whites to wear. Anil Kapoor was the showstopper for Raghavendra Rathore's collection. And no other celebrity could have defined men's wedding fashion better.

Black Cape Gown
This gown is the most representative outfit from the collection. It defines Raghavendra Rathore's collection in a nutshell. Modern, futuristic and smart. Black has never looked better on today's bride. Miss Canada, Sahar Binaz walked the ramp for Raghavendra Rathore.

Black n Pink Churidar
The combination of a black collared bandhgala with a neon pink churidar was fresh. The embroidery on the kurta looked very Kashmiri shawl-like to us.

Purple Embroidered Black Sherwani
This jacket like sherwani was worn over a bright purple shirt. The black sherwani contained intricate sepia embroidery.

Black n Red Churidar Kurta
Unlike the previous bandhgala black kurta, this one has a round neck. That gives it a slightly more feminine look. It is also paired with a crimson churidar.

Red Embroidered Coat
There are very few grooms who would dare to carry off solid red embroider coat at their wedding. But those that do it well will earn a lot of compliments.

Purple Bandhgala Sherwani
Red might be slightly too unconventional for the groom. But a sobre purple coloured sherwani like this one should be easy enough to carry.

Sleeveless Black Dress
Raghavendra Rathore has used black again and again for the futuristic bride. This is because, the bride of the future will probably prefer black to any other colour. This draped sheer dress has some brilliant embroidery.

Purple Shirt n Black Vest
The bright purple colour of the shirt contrasts nicely with the gold embroidered black velvet waistcoat.

Moss Green Coat
Raghavendra Rathore's idea is very clear; he wants to use as many unconventional colours for the groom as possible. The groom of the future should be prepared to look dapper in glossy moss green blazers.

Royal Blue Kaftan
This dress can be best described as a flowing kaftan gown. The royal blue colour is rich and the golden belt gives it some form.

Sleeveless Pink Embroidered Coat
What was simple black and white churidar kameez has been raised to the heights of aesthetic beauty by adding this long sleeveless baby pink coat with exquisite embroidery.

Pink Top With White Trouser
The baby pink layered top may not have bling, but the embroidery looks very bridal. And it goes rather well with the white trousers.

Midnight Blue Coat
Women could look equally enchanting in velvet coats. And this deep midnight blue collared coat worn over stylish dual coloured Jodhpuri pants proves that.

Red Sleeveless Jacket n Loose Brown Kurta
We see two eminent styles here. The blood red sleeveless jacket looks stunning over the white kurta. The loose and long Mughal kurta however doesn't match the futuristic theme.

White Toga Gown
This gown seems to have come out of a Green Tragedy being cast on stage. The white toga uses the universal bridal colour, white very innovatively.

Navy Blue Suit
This navy blue suit for men is pretty basic. What we like about it is the blingy gloss.

Baby Pink Bandhgala
Baby pink is a colour rarely used for men's clothing. But believe it or not, the baby pink kurta and sleeveless embroidered jacket looked really amazing on this groom.

Violet Drape Dress
This outfit looks more like a series of drapes that a stitched dress. Although the style is uncertain, the colour looks stunningly smart with black stockings.

Violet Polka Dotted Waistcoat
Again the use of polka dots for men's wear is very unconventional. But somehow this violet polka dotted sleeveless jacket works with the mauve kurta.

Long Black Coat Over Orange Saree
The bright orange and gold saree was quite standard. But the long black winter coat over it was the actual object on display.

Three Piece Black Bandhgala Sherwani
In this outfit, first came the black kurta, then the bandhgala waistcoat and finally the long black and cold jacket. Inspired from a three-piece suit we believe!

Long Black Jacket Over White Gown
This long black embroidered jacket has no bling but the form is bridal. And it has been worn over a simple white gown. Just perfect for a futuristic bride.

Navy Blue Velvet Skirt
This is one of the stand-out outfits in the collection. The navy blue velvet long skirt is splendidly elegant. The cropped blue top has shirt sleeves and mind-blowing embroidery.

Pink Kurta With Purple Waistcoat
This bubblegum pink kurta looks really smart with the pale purple waistcoat. The groom can easily carry this look for the Sangeet or Mehendi ceremony.

Neon Blue Suit
The cut and style of this suit is very standard. It is a well-fitting closed neck blazer with trousers. But the glossy neon blue might take you by surprise.

Sleeveless Royal Blue Gown
One of the most exquisite and definitely bridal outfits of the collection is an ink blue gown. The yellow embroidery covers the gown from neck to the waist. From there on, it flares out into a plain expanse. The back is cut deep and held with a dori.

Glossy Red Suit
While being futuristic is a good idea, we don't see any groom in the near future wearing this glossy blood red suit!

Pink Toga Gown
This pink toga gown is a perfect replica from the Greeks. The only difference is the Indian embroidery and the thigh-high slit. The sleeves of the toga are scooped.

Pleated Red Gown With Black Jacket
This is a pleated ballroom gown in crimson silk. It looks splendid paired with a cropped black full-sleeve bolero jacket.

Showstopper, Anil Kapoor
The evergreen star, Anil Kapoor took to the ramp in a black bandhgala kurta and white churidar. The gold embroidered jacket gave the ensemble a spark.

With Raghavendra Rathore
Anil Kapoor took a final walk down the runway with designer and family friend Raghavendra Rathore.
