Pregnant Kate Uses Hypnosis For Morning Sickness

After the good news that Kate Middleton is pregnant came a disturbing piece of news. In December 2012, a pregnant Kate Middleton was checked into a London hospital for acute morning sickness. At that point of time everybody assumed that Kate Middleton was going through morning sickness because it is normal during a majority of the pregnancies.

However, the situation seems much more severe now. That comes in context to the news that Kate Middleton might be undergoing hypnosis to get rid of her negative thoughts about food. So the 3 day hospital stay has not cured the Duchess of Cambridge. She still continues to feel aversion towards food and a constant sense of nausea. Which is probably the reason for cancelling all her public engagements for another month.

Now the worrying fact is that Kate Middleton's pregnancy is entering the second trimester. Morning sickness is common in the first trimester of pregnancy and it subsides after that. The doctors believe that Kate Middleton has morning sickness resulting from a severe medical condition called hyperemesis gravidarum. This condition is fairly rare. While 80 per cent women go through the normal morning sickness during pregnancy, only 1 or 2 per cent have hyperemesis gravidarum.

Hyperemesis gravidarum does not only make your stomach turn, it also dehydrates the body. Another famous example of hyperemesis gravidarum in England is the case of Charlotte Bronte, the author of ‘Jane Eyre' who died of severe dehydration in the fourth month of her pregnancy. Although it was not diagnosed then, doctors now believe that Ms. Bronte might have suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum.

However, the good news for a pregnant Kate Middleton and the royal family is that this condition is considered curable now. Whether or not the Duchess is actually taking hypnosis for her pregnancy problems, is not yet confirmed. But a close friend of the Princess told an Australian tabloid that she is going through hypnotherapy to get over her negativity towards food and replace it with ‘cravings' for nutritious food.

This news brings us to another question. It has been British royal tradition to have home births for the royalty. However, Lady Diana ditched this tradition in favour of giving birth in a Hospital. Considering Kate Middleton's pregnancy is troubled by acute morning sickness, will she choose to give birth in the palace or choose a well-equipped hospital like her late mother-in-law?
