Day 4 IIJW 2013: 3 Showstoppers For Amer
Day 4 of IIJW 2013 ended with a massive blast. And why not, the theme of the last show put up by Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers was really ethnic and explosive. Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers put up a massive and original set for the Rajasthani city of Amer on the ramp of India International Jewellery Week 2013.
The theme of the last collection on Day 4 of IIJW 2013 was obvious. It was jewellery based on the Rajasthani designs, specifically from the fort city of Amer. If you recall, Amer is the city from which the Mughal Empress Jodha Bai hailed. It is a city that is steeped in history and mystery. That is why the jewellery collection from the city of Amer is bound to be interesting.

The Begum
The Begum of Pataudi, Sharmila Tagore opened the Amer collection for Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers. She wore a pink zardosi saree with a ruby and diamond necklace. Her necklace had Rajasthani frill work on it.

The Set For Amer
The set for the Amer collection was laid out beautifully. The old imperial fort of Amer was re-created on the stage of IIJW 2013.

Mughal Jewellery
As the princess of Amer, Jodha Bai was the queen of Emperor Akbar, and the city went through remarkable Mughal influence. That is why, the show began with a collection of Mughal inspired Persian jewellery.

Persian Pearl n Diamond Necklace
This huge collar necklace was completely cast in pearls and diamonds. The typical Anarkali costume added elegance to the entire look.

Ornate Ring Bracelet
This emerald and diamonds ring bracelet is in the jadao style. The bracelet is connected with not one but 2 rings.

Anarkali Style Mangtikka
Wearing a mangtikka sideways is a very distinctly Islamic tradition that comes down from the Mughals. This mangtikka is composed of pearls, emeralds and gold joints.

Jarao Coin Necklace
The coin-like design also has its roots in Persia. That is why, this ruby studded white gold necklace and earrings look very distinctly Mughal.

Pillar Necklace
This necklace has a unique design. There are two sets of pillars on both sides and a large diamond pendant is held by these pillar like pearl formations.

Gemstone Tie
The shape of the central necklace is really innovative. It begins as a pearl choker and then comes down as a tie of emeralds and diamonds.

Ila Arun
The second segment of the Amer collection is about banjaran style prevalent in Rajasthan. And to add some musical touches to it, well-known folk singer Ila Arun performed on the stage.

Selling Jewels
Then we had a model come out on stage in true banjaran style selling native jewellery. The banjaras are famous for making lakh jewellery.

Button Necklace
This necklace is in the traditional Rajasthani style. This necklace has a large golden and ruby studded button as the pendant.

Golden Ankle Cuffs
The banjaras are known for their loud and chunky jewellery. And these huge golden ankle cuffs are an example of their exuberant style.

Jarao Jhumkas
The Banjaras in Rajasthan wear really large earring, mostly jhumkas. This pearls and emeralds jadao jhumka has a typical Banjaran style.

Silver Pendant
The Banjaras are basically nomads and they wear exquisite silver jewellery. This set of silver pendants and earrings cast in pearl strings has been inspired from their culture.

Chandelier Earrings
The last segment of the Amer collection on Day 4 of IIJW 2013 was composed of the contemporary use of traditional Rajasthani jewellery. These beaded pearl earrings in the shape of elaborate chandeliers are good examples of this modern face of tradition.

Pearl Bajubandh
This golden and pearl bajubandh or arm band is very traditional in design. And yet it can be worn with a modern single shoulder garment.

Persian Mangtikka
Although this mangtikka design is inspired from ethnic Mughal jewellery, it has a contemporary touch to it. The diamond studded piece of jewellery looks distinctly wearable.

Connected Brooch n Bajubandh
This model is wearing a jewel encrusted brooch on her bosom. She is also wearing a pearl and gold bajubandh. The two pieces of jewellery have been connected with a string of pearls.

Diamond n Ruby Loop Necklace
This diamond necklace has ruby studded pendants. The lower half of the necklace makes a large loop.

Kangna Ranaut n Vidyut Jamval
Finally the show ended with the hot pair, Kangna Ranaut and Vidyut Jamval who walked together on to the ramp.

The Modern Banjaran
Kangna Ranaut was dressed in the style of a modern Banjaran in a thigh-high slit lehenga and a bikini choli. Vidyut wore a black coloured suit with a bejeweled brooch on it.

The Rajasthani Headgear
The most striking piece of jewellery on Kangna Ranaut was the typical Rajasthani headgear. The rounded borla in the centre and the multiple extensions from it looked rustic and stylish at the same time.
The Amer collection of Day 4 of IIJW 2013 was opened by Begum of Pataudi, Sharmila Tagore. She sizzled in a neon pink saree and an imperial ruby and diamonds necklace. The most striking aspect of the necklace was that it has gota work on it. The second segment of the show was started off by Ila Arun. The folk singer added some musical touches to the show.
