Countries And The Alcohol They Drink
Almost all countries drink alcohol. Except the Islamic countries of the Gulf where consumption of alcohol is prohibited, all most all countries have markets for alcohol. However, what type of alcohol is the point that brings in the difference. People from all countries do not drink alcohol of the same type. In fact, some countries are known for their excess consumption of alcohol of only one kind.
As the old saying goes, Russians have more vodka than blood in their veins. This means that Russia is a place where vodka is consumed most of the time and in the largest amounts. Similarly, all countries drink alcohol according to their tastes and culture. Even the climatic conditions of a country play a major role in deciding its alcohol consumption.
The cultural patterns of country and its tradition also affects the people's choice of liquor. For example, France is traditionally a wine making country and that why the French people are very particular about their wine. In fact, they have different wine coming from almost every tiny village in France.
Here are some of the major countries and the alcohol they prefer to drink.

Wine: France
France is not the largest wine drinking country in the world; its USA. But that is because of sheer size and numbers. However, the French people take their wines very seriously and they are expert connoisseurs.

Scotch Whiskey: England & USA
Scotch whiskey is produced in the Scottish Isles. And thus, English people love to have their Scotch. However, the largest consumer of this premium Scotch whiskey is USA.

Vodka: Russia
Russians make and drink more Vodka than the rest of the world. Actually it is the extremely cold weather in Russia that favours vodka over other drinks.

Bourbon: USA (South)
Bourbon is basically Tennessee whiskey that was produced for the first time in a place called Bourbon county. All of the Southern states of USA, swears by bourbon whiskey.

Port Wine: Spain
Leave the fancy red and white wines to the French. The more rugged variety of port wine is a specialty of Spain. It gets exported from Spain to the rest of the world.

Beer: Germany
Isn't the Oktoberfest enough proof that the Germans drink more beer than water. The German beer mugs are the largest and they also produce the best beers in the world.

Rum: India
Rum is something that the Britishers brought to India. But today, Indians are the only ones still holding on to the tradition of drinking this hard liquor.

Tequila: Mexico
USA is the largest consumer of most other alcohols due to its sheer size. But when it comes of Tequila shots, their neighbours win. Mexicans have more Tequila shots than any other country in the world.

Gin: Phillipines
It is not strange that a marine drink like gin is extremely popular in a Coastal country like Philippines.

Champagne: Nigeria
You were surely not expecting this one. Champagne is produced majorly in France. But Nigeria has a whopping high consumption of champagne that is the highest in the world!
