Angelina Jolie Opens Afghan Girls School

Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie was last seen in Afghanistan with a lot of little girls. Don't worry, she has not adopted any more children. This time Angelina Jolie's social work is less personal and on a larger scale. Angelina Jolie is opening a school for Afghan girls in an area that was previously under Taliban control. Angelina Jolie's school will a part of the rebuilding program for Afghanistan.

We all know that Angelina Jolie is a UNHCR's goodwill ambassador. This all girls school is a part of Angelina's role as the UNHCR ambassador. The school opened by Angelina Jolie is located just outside the city of Kabul in Afghanistan. This location was chosen because it has a very high density of refugee population.

Angelina Jolie's school can accommodate up to to 300 girls as of now. This is a big step for this region which is not very favourable for women's education. Most families educate only their boys. But this school with support from Angelina Jolie's stardom will be able to extend education to girls and young women as well. This is also expected to be the first in the line of many other schools that Angelina Jolie plans to open. This school will serve as test case for educational institutes to come up in the future.

The best part is that the school is being sponsored by Angelina Jolie's own jewellery line, 'The Style Of Jolie'. The profits that come from this jewellery brand have been used as the funds for this school. Angelina Jolie designs the jewellery in this line along with Robert Procop. The Style Of Jolie will be available at retail outlets this week.

Lets hope this good social work done by Angelina Jolie goes a long way to bring the light of education to many young girls in Afghanistan
