Oxford Dramatizes Agatha Christie
Oxford Bookstore, Mumbai and Theatrecian organized a panel discussion on ‘Dramatizing The Queen of Mysteries- Agatha Christie'. The occasion was graced by Ms. Laura Mishra, an eminent actress and director of the play ‘The Mousetrap' along with Mr. Dhruv Mookerji, actor and Founder of Theatrecian who shared observations about the popular Mumbai Theatre Culture. The audience was captivated with an intriguing discussion amongst the panelists on the works of the most prolific and exceedingly popular British author and playwright Agatha Christie, best known for her work in the murder mystery genre.
A short teaser of the play ‘The Witness' which has been inspired from Agatha Christie's classic ‘The Witness For The Prosecution' was also performed by Apratim Chatterjee and Tanmay Ranjan along with the chief guests from the theater industry which gave a good deal of insight into outline of the plot, theme and character development in the play. The performance was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

Theatrecian founder member, Dhruv Mookerji and Tanmay Ranjan, mentioned how the 12-year-old theater company based in Kolkata has been a platform for budding actors in Bombay over the last three years. Dhruv who performed a cameo in Mira Nair's The Namesake and then acted in several regional films in Bengal is now a popular face in television commercials too. He has also acted in Theatrecian production of Ayn Rand's The Night of January 16th last year.
The session brought to light the fact that the author, Agatha Christie has written over 66 novels in a writing career that spanned more than half a century. Her books have been translated into over a 100 languages. She has also written numerous short stories and screen plays, including The Mousetrap, which has been the longest running play in theatrical history. Several of her works were made into successful feature films, the most outstanding one being Murder on the Orient Express (1974).
