Aishwarya Rai Goes Indian In Dubai!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya Rai Bacchan just went for her first overseas trip after her delivery. It also happens to be her first appearance at the Dubai World cup, a high profile style event sponsored by Longines. As Mrs Bacchan has been the brand ambassador for this high end watch brand for more than a decade, it is no surprise that her presence here was very highly coveted.

Why Was She There?
Aishwarya Rai Bacchan made an exception of her 'lesser public appearances' rule to represent Longines at this overseas event. She gave away the 'most elegant lady' award to Carolyn Coe at the Dubai World Cup. It was also Beti B's first trip overseas with her famous mommy. Like all celebrity moms, Ash too had here mother in tow, so that she could leave the baby in safe hands.

What Did She Wear?
Looks like post pregnancy fat is getting the better of Aishwarya Rai Bacchan's fashion sense. Where we remember the actor is flowing gowns and beautifully draped sarees, she turned up in a red nun's gown at this event. Aishwarya Rai's clothes have hovered around the 'Indian' every since her delivery. But this one was nothing short of a disaster.

As Aishwarya Rai Bacchan seems to have lost some of the baby fat, her choice of clothes seems all the more weird. First of all, red with gold is the worst idea for day wear. Where the rest of the fashionable crowd turned up in summer clothes and hats, Aishwarya's scarlet red kaftan with drizzled gold stood out. The worst part is that the dress was like a nun's hobbit. It was closed right up to her throat showing so glimpse of skin. Is it not uncomfortable to turn out in clothes like that in the heat of the summers? Moreover, the event was hosted by the desert country of UAE!

And The Designer Is ..
Haute couture fashion designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee is sure to face a lot of flak for this 'code red' dress. It was an interesting adaptation of the anarkali style; that is to be appreciated. But it supposed to be worn by 'the' Aishwarya Rai Bacchan, who is supposed to be the glamour icon of the global Indian. Moreover, it was a complete misfit for the Dubai World cup because the feel of the place was summery.

Verdict:
Wearing Indian clothes is not always the best way to hide post pregnancy fat. That is all we can say to Aishwarya Rai Bacchan.
