Tips To Keep Your Child Entertained During Car Travels

By Staff

The most common phrases that kids use in a long and boring car drive are,
"Did we reach?"
"I have to go to the bathroom."
"Mom, Mony is hitting me."
"I'm hungry!".... So on and so forth.

Most of you may agree. So what do we do to keep them entertained? Simple, just follow these tips.

Plan wisely: Kids don't like traveling for long hours. So plan wisely before leaving home. With the help of a travel guide to your destination make a note of spots where you can rest for few minutes and kids can play around.

Some Relaince and Bharat Petroleum, petrol bunks ( in India ) have great playrooms and refreshing zones for travelers on major highways. The place is equipped with all the things what a traveler needs, good food, clean washrooms and a play zone for kids. Relax in such places. Let your kids play around for few minutes, while you sip a hot tea.

Pack your bag : Make sure to have a special backpack for each child, with crayons, activity sets, stickers, books, toys, handheld games, Mp3 players with headphones. ....etc. You can even pack some new wrapped surprises for little kids. However don't give out all of them at once! So that they keep expecting some new thing now and then.

Pack lots of snacks, such as fruit leathers, crackers and juice packs. Bring plastic cups, band aids, a dishtowel; frisbee and ball for rest-stops. Make sure to have a first aid kit too. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Encourage Group activities : As a child I loved playing group games like, word game or Antakshri during a long car drive. These trips are some of the memories that I will cherish, even after my hair grows grey. I think its is a must to have a group activity to build a strong bond for life. So just get started. If you can get the whole family engaged with each other for awhile, the time will pass more quickly and the memories will be more lasting. However these may vary greatly from family to family.

Research states that road trips create some of the best memories your children will have of the family travel you did while they were growing up, so it's worth investing a little bit of time and energy in making sure that they're entertained. Besides, car travel is often the least expensive route, so why wait? Just make use of this advantage wisely.
