The word cruising means traveling, however this word is commonly used to refer to a travel by ship. It was when people began to travel from one country to another that ships began to grow larger and more luxurious. The first ship built exclusively for the purpose of cruising was the Prinzessin Victoria Luise in 1900. Perhaps the most famous of the cruises was the Titanic, which went inside the ocean on its first voyage. As the jet age started people started traveling by planes and the Cruises began to loose their popularity. They however changed their business strategy and began to focus on tourism rather than point to point transportation.

Today it is a multi billion dollar industry with millions of passengers taking the cruise rides each year. It is the wildest of cruise destination and perhaps the best. The passengers here are treated with rare visuals of penguin colonies, huge icebergs and some of the biggest glaciers. The drawback is the high cost of the trip, which cannot be afforded by many.

Galapagos

One of the rare cruise destinations, which can be visited any time of the year due to its paradise like location. Tourists get a breath taking view of cleaved fjords, green-clad volcanic cliffs dropping down to the sea. However the trips from mainland USA can be too long and harsh for many.
