Launch Of 'Modi Thali' In New Jersey Restaurant Ahead Of PM's Visit In The US, Know What This Thali Contains!

This special thali is not just a plate of food but looks like a red carpet ahead of PM Narendra Modi's visit to the United States. A beautifully curated thali that looks vibrant and has already won the hearts of the Indian diaspora living there.

Recently, a restaurant in New Jersey has curated a special Thali to honour PM Modi's upcoming visit to the US, reported news agency ANI. This thali was prepared by chef Shripad Kulkarni and it consists of Khichdi, rasgulla, sarson ka saag, Kashmiri dum aloo, idli, dhokla, chaach, and papad, among other dishes.

This will be Modi's first state visit to the US and it will be hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on 22 June. This will make him the first Indian PM to address the joint meeting of the US Congress for the second time.

While talking to ANI, Kulkarni mentioned that the thali was prepared taking into account the popular demands of the Indian diaspora in New Jersey. In a video shared by ANI, Kulkarni is seen explaining the details about this beautiful thali that is extremely vibrant and looks scrumptious. Further, the restaurant owner also plans to launch a second thali which will be dedicated to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar soon.

'We plan to launch this thali soon. I'm very positive that it's going to gain popularity. Once this does well I also plan to launch a Dr Jaishankar Thali, because he too has that rockstar appeal amongst the Indian American community,' he added.

Further, he said that this colourful 'thali' also pays tribute to 2023, which was declared as the International Year of Millets by the United Nations after a recommendation from the Government of India in 2019.

Previously, on 17 September, a Delhi-based restaurant, ARDOR 2.1 launched a Thali named 56 inch Narendra Modi Thali that was centred around the PM and that contained both veg and non-veg items.

Indian Americans are planning to welcome him with an 'India Unity Day' march which will be held across 20 major cities across America on 18 June, announced the organisers. Also, on 21 June, several top Indian Americans will join PM Modi on the north lawns of the UN complex in New York, where he will lead the International Yoga Day event.

At the South Lawns of the White House when President Biden and the First Lady will welcome the PM amidst a 21-gun salute, more than seven thousand Indian Americans plan to gather on 22 June. According to reports, PM Modi will also address the heads of top US companies at John F Kennedy Centre in Washington and it will be followed by an address to the Indian diaspora at Ronald Reagan Center in DC in the evening.
