"I'm a mature woman. The ring is my life," Carini said. "I've always been very instinctive. And when I feel that something isn't right, it's not giving up. It's having the maturity to stop." She added that she felt it was important to know when enough is enough.

The 2022 World Championship silver medalist was eliminated just hours after winning gold in New Delhi last year despite not meeting IBA eligibility requirements. However, this did not deter her Olympic dreams or her desire to express views on issues surrounding Khelif.
