Father's Day 2023: History And Significance
The first Father's Day was observed on 19 June 1910 in the United States and then it slowly spread across the globe. The existence of this day is quite interesting and it came into the plan when Mother's Day was announced by US President Woodrow Wilson. While a day was dedicated to honour mothers, another day was also assigned to honour fathers.

According to a report, a campaign was organised to celebrate the day, but the nation's fathers did not meet with the same enthusiasm because fathers didn't have the same sentimental appeal that mothers have. This day is observed to honour fathers and understand the significance of fathers or father-like figures.

It is an effort of a kid who was raised by male parents. According to a report, Sonora Smart Dodd, who hailed from Washington was raised by a widower along with her five siblings. Due to her efforts, Father's Day came into existence and got marked on the calendar.

The idea of observing Father's Day came to Dodo when she listened to a speech by Anna Jarvis on the importance of Mother's Day and why it should be celebrated. In 1916 President Wilson honoured the day by unfurling a flag in Spokane and in 1924, President Calvin Coolidge urged state governments to observe this day.
