Don't Put Your Accidentally Wet Phone In Uncooked Rice, Says Apple: Here's What Will Work Instead
In a recent advisory, Apple issued a strong caution against employing popular makeshift solutions to address water damage in iPhones, emphasizing that these methods might exacerbate the situation.
The tech giant's guidance sheds light on proper practices for handling such incidents, underlining the potential risks associated with common "hacks" found online.

The company proposes a gentle tapping method to dislodge any trapped liquid, followed by placing the phone in a dry, well-ventilated area for a duration of up to 24 hours. This approach aims to mitigate further damage while the device dries.

is
twofold.
Firstly, the presence of rice can restrict airflow, hampering the drying process. Secondly, rice grains pose a risk of entering the device, potentially causing internal damage.
Additionally, Apple advises against the use of external heat sources or compressed air for drying, as these methods may drive moisture deeper into the phone or cause irreversible damage.
Another critical recommendation from Apple involves the handling of a "liquid detected" warning. In such scenarios, users are urged to immediately disconnect their device from its charger and allow it to dry naturally.
The insertion of foreign objects into the charging port is also cautioned against, due to the potential harm to the port's pins, which could impair charging capabilities.
Apple underscores the importance of patience and refraining from hurried attempts to resolve water damage. The company's stance is clear: taking a measured and informed approach is crucial in preserving the functionality and longevity of water-damaged iPhones.
This guidance serves as a reminder of the delicate nature of electronic devices and the need for careful handling in adverse situations.
