Cleaning Floors to Counting Notes: Srilankan Worker Wipes Away His Struggles And Becomes A Millionaire
We are all working for a living, we all want to be financially independent and some of us have really huge dreams. Dreams to make it really big in life when it comes to career and of course money as well. No matter what, we can't deny that money does play a huge factor in our lives. There are shows like Kaun Banega Croreprati where you have people participate in the show in the hope that their answers and knowledge will lead to a huge cash prize. And then we see the day to day people on the streets who buy lottery tickets, wishing that one day luck will strike them in the form of numbers and offer them millions in cash.
But here is a different story altogether, about a man who worked hard and brought luck towards himself. Talking about a Srilankan worker named Vinul Karunaratne who has turned into a millionaire doing full time gig jobs in Australia.

Internet Sensation - This incident has taken the internet by storm, as within five years Vinul has managed to make $1,2 million, allowing him to buy his very own dream car, a luxury apartment for his parents residing in Sri Lanka, at the same time he can also afford a deposit on a three-bedroom home in North Melbourne. It's no big joke, he's done it all at the young age of 25.
Humble Beginnings - Vinul Karunaratne migrated to Australia less than a decade ago with empty pockets. Speaking to 7News he said, "When I started, I didn't even have much equipment. I had a vacuum, mop, bucket, and some rags. That was the stuff I had at home". After working for some years as a night shift worker in a service station called 7-Eleven, he left it for a full time gig at Airtasker.
Working at Airtasker - According to the Airtasker platform, Vinul Karunaratne is one of the top 10 earners with an impressive salary of $1,000 to $1,400 daily. As per Dailymail reports, he mainly performs bond cleans but also steams carpets and cleans offices.
Being His Own Boss - The millionaire shared that working with the Airtasker platform enabled him to be his own boss. He shared that it was physical work but it was good money. He enjoyed the flexibility and the fact about working on his own terms, he was his own boss.
His Million Dollar Rise - Vinul Karunaratne was on a roll as he took charge of his own schedule using the Airtasker platform. His unique side hustle or freelance gig on this Sydney-based online marketplace soon transformed him into a millionaire.
Airtasker enables people to outsource everyday tasks like cleaning, yard work etc. for the others to complete in exchange for cash. He cleans a dozen homes every week on an average and is one of the top 10 earners of the platform.
The founder and CEO Tim Fung of Airtasker believes Vinul Karunaratne's story to be inspirational and that anyone can earn extra money if they work hard, he also added that more work will soon become available on the platform as homeowners undertake spring cleaning jobs.
Aptly ending with popular American personality and author Jim Cramer's quote, "I wish it grew on trees, but it takes hard work to make money".
