It is a significant cultural and religious festival for Zoroastrians and marks the beginning of the new year according to the Fasli calendar. Navroz has its origins in Zoroastrianism, one of the world's oldest monotheistic religions, founded by the prophet Zoroaster in ancient Persia (modern-day Iran) over 3,000 years ago. Fire temples are visited to seek forgiveness for their sins and pray for prosperity.
