The Disappearing Act

In Chile, one guy hit the jackpot-well, sort of. An employee at Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos (Cial), a company known for its cold cut meats, usually took home 500,000 pesos (around $525) a month. But one payday, his bank account showed something wild; 165 million pesos (over $173,000).

Realising the massive mistake, Cial's HR team quickly stepped in, asking him to return the money. He even promised to sort it out the next morning at his bank. But guess what? Morning came, and he didn't. No work, no bank visit, and no replies to calls, texts, or even WhatsApp. Talk about ghosting on a whole new level!

The employee didn't just disappear, he straight-up ghosted the company. But, just to keep things interesting, he had a lawyer get in touch to officially resign.

Gone Without A Trace

Of course, Cial wasn't going down without a fight. They launched legal action, claiming the money wasn't his to keep, but rather a huge mistake. Legal documents reportedly said the company made it clear that the sum didn't correspond to any work he'd done. Still, six months later, the company was still trying to track him down, with no luck.

With 330 paychecks safely stashed away, it's clear he could lay low for a long while without a care in the world. Let's just hope he didn't blow it all on a wild spree, though no one could blame him if he did!
