PETA Gift To The Royal Couple
The royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William, will receive an artificial silk sherwani and saari from the India branch of PETA. PETA's gift to the royal couple is an attempt to spread awareness and to send across a message to the world, to not use animals for human selfish purpose.
Sherwani and saree is a traditional Indian bridal wear and is usually made using natural silk and other materials derived from dead animals, the PETA gift to the royal couple is a beautiful imitation of the genuine silk and proves that a wardrobe can also be decorated without having to kill the innocent beings.
India branch of PETA decided on this gift for the royal wedding as India is one of the places where the use of silk is much more. According to statistics 1,500 silk worms are killed to get a 100 grams of silk. This can give us an idea as to how many silk worms are killed everyday to match up to the indian wardrobe needs. PETA'a gift to the royal couple has been a good medium to make people aware of the reality and the cruelty against animals.
Prince William and Kate Middleton wedding will be held in West Minister Abbey on the 29th of April and could be watched by 2 billion people worldwide.
