Katie Holmes Sued The Star Magazine

Katie Holmes has sued American Media Inc. Star Magazine for reporting false news about her. Reports also claim that Katie Holmes was forced to sue the Star Magazine as she had warned them against the report as it was not true. The magazine still went ahead with the news.
Katie Holmes attorney Bret Field has written in a state, "Star Magazine's malicious claims about Katie are untrue, unethical and unlawful. Not only do they cruelly defame Katie, they play a cheap trick on the public, making ridiculously false claims on the cover unsupported by anything inside."
Katie Holmes on suing American media Inc. Said that they deserve it not only for spoiling her reputation but also for misleading the public for their own profit. The Star Magazine, however, stand by it's reports on Katie Holmes being a drug addict. They claim to have written the report based on the information it got from the Church of Scientology, to which Holmes is quite regular. They feel it is a matter of public concern and thus, it their duty to report about it.
The Star magazine statement reads, "Star fully stands behind the editorial integrity of what we have published concerning Ms. Holmes' controversial use of the Scientology 'e-meter. The physical effect of the e-meter on its users is a matter of significant public concern and we plan to vigorously defend the suit filed by Ms. Holmes. Our attorneys look forward to deposing Ms. Holmes about her experiences with Scientology and the e-meter, and expect that the case will be promptly dismissed by the court."
