Angelina Jolie Donates £1.2m To A Sanctuary
Angelina Jolie has made news once again, the Hollywood star with partner Brad Pitt have reportedly donated £1.2m to a wildlife sanctuary in Namibia. The couple also spent Christmas in Namibia with their children. Angelina Jolie gave birth to the couple's daughter Shiloh, in Swakopmund, Namibia, in 2006 and since then the couple have maintained strong ties with the country.
Brangelina chose to celebrate Christmas in Namibia with their four year old daughter Shiloh and five of their other children. According to Angelina Jolie the very reason why they planned to celebrate Christmas in Namibia was to understand Shiloh's country of birth. The family also stayed at the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary, 26 miles away from Namibia's capital, Windhoek. Owned by physician Dr Rudie van Vuuren and his wife Marlice, the 10,000 hectare sanctuary accommodates mostly orphaned and injured animals that cannot be released back into the wild including lions, leopards and cheetahs. The sanctuary also provides luxury accommodation, the earnings of which go towards conservation projects.
Angelina Jolie said that she and Brad Pitt have known Rudie and Marlice for many years and continue to be impressed by their hard work and dedication to the people and conservation of the land and wildlife of Namibia. As parting gift, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt donated two million US dollars to the sanctuary.
