Nicola Mclean Inspired By Bindi, An Indian Body Art

McLean, 25 is from Hamilton, Lankshire, and been the model of top jewellers, Rox, who are creating a diamond bindi in the honour of his year's tenth Miss Scotland contest. Rox who are extending their sponsorship for the Miss Scotland Contest have entrusted the creation of the Indian mark to their top designer, Christina Tagore.
The Sun had the model as saying : "The Rox bindi will cost 21,000 pounds. My bindi was just costume jewellery in lookalike rubies and diamonds,"
"But whether it's made of diamonds or glass, wearing a bindi makes a girl feel extra special.
"I love bindis. When I was growing up in Hamilton, I had an Indian pal and I used to wear hers.
"It's like a 'finishing touch' when you're all glammed up.
"I think bindis are lucky and I always feel lucky when I'm wearing one," she stated.
In the words of Christina Tagore, "It's made from 18-carat yellow gold, with a stunning, flawless one-carat pear-cut diamond,"
The designer of the stunning Miss Scotland bindi also said : "It will be a work of art," she added.
To sum up as to what bindi really is that apart from being a body art and adding to the beauty of the Indian women, there is also a mystical aspect to it belonging to the Hindu tradition. Hindus attach great importance to wearing the bindi or the mark in between the eyebrows at the spot of a major nerve point. Adorning a bindi according to the Hindu tradition from ancient times brings in prosperity and good luck.
