Madonna Lays Foundation For Girls' School In Malawi

Madonna
Though there were controversies on her adoption from Malawi, the pop queen is never hesitant to extend her helping hands for the native girls out there. Madonna has laid the foundation stone for the 15-million-dollar school she is building there. She has arrived in Malawi on behalf of her charity, Raising Malawi.

The 51-year-old singer arrived on Oct 25th 2009 along with her four kids Lourdes, Mercy, Rocco and David at Malawi. She took part in a groundbreaking ceremony for the girls' school. The Material Girl adopted the Malawian-born Mercy this year after she adopted David in 2008.

Madonna extended her helping hands for the people in Malawi, when she first visited the country. She founded the charity organization Raising Malawi in 2006. The charity organization helps feed, educate and provide medical care for some of Malawi's orphans.
