The researchers found that the wines are spiked with natural medicines—centuries before the practice was thought to exist in Egypt. This will enhance the medical qualities of the wine. Chemical residues of herbs, tree resins, and other natural substances are found inside wine jars from the tomb.
The ancient Egyptians were aliens to the modern synthetic medicines. So they added the medical herbs to their favourite drinks like wine or beer. The natural herbs also had different flavours to enhance their quality.
The researchers are trying to find out whether these natural herbs are useful for ailments like cancers and modern diseases.
