After the gift-giving ritual, Obama now plans to renovate his official house, The White House. Why, you forgot about the i-pod gift to the queen a few weeks back, huh? Now, you may ask what's so special about this renovation thing, right? Well, unlike the provious tenure, Mr. President, this time, is planning to renovate the mighty building with his own money, hence, forgoing 100,000 dollars in federal funds that is traditionally allotted to new presidents for such renovation projects.

First Lady Michelle Obama's communications director, Camille Johnston, said that the Obama's, who are worth millions, will pay to overhaul the White House residence from their own pockets. "The Obama's have determined now is not the time to use taxpayer funds and they will not be accepting any donations," the New York Daily News quoted Johnston, as saying.

Please don't even think about the quality of the renovation, for Obama has already hired pricey Hollywood decorator Michael S. Smith to redesign the interior of the Executive Mansion.

The Obamas recently spent a few thousand dollars of their own to pay for a South Lawn swing set for daughters Malia and Sasha.
