2008 Chaos NASHA
The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad kicked off its annual cultural festival, Chaos with a bang. The first day of the festival witnessed breathtaking dance sequences as part of the dance competition, Choreos. The event that saw participation from even cities like Ghaziabad and Pune was sponsored by Raymonds. A total of 5 teams were short listed to perform on stage, with the theme of “Lose Control" running common all across. Each team came up with a different interpretation of the theme ranging from woman emancipation to Indo-Pak relationship.
The judges from the SPIN Academy and the Shiamak Davar's Institute for the Performing Arts adjudged the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad as the winner followed by a combined team from SM Patel & HLBBA. Choreos was followed by a fashion show conceptualized by Ms. Purvi Trivedi. The fact that the participants were all differently enabled (deaf, partially or completely blind) truly sets it apart.
The fashion parade, christened Rampage was also sponsored by Raymonds and saw 6 teams with around 120 “models" sashaying down the ramp in style. The event turned out to be a closely contested one with teams from NID, Ahmedabad and NIFT, Gandhinagar tied for the first place.
Another high point for the day was the complete sell out at the Prayaas stall, selling merchandise consisting of T-shirts, greeting cards, book-marks, etc. “Prayaas" is a school for the kids living in the slums, being run as an IIMA students" initiative. While the greeting cards were made by the students 70 odd students of the school , the T-shirts have been designed by Ankur Roy, a first year PGP student.
The second day of Chaos"08 promises to be a rollicking one as well with events like Musicals, Dumb Charades, Junk Yard Wars, Quiz, Rangoli and Creative writing contests all lined up. In true IIMA style, in recognition of their social responsibilities, the students are also going to organize a blood donation camp. Then there are workshops for dance, dramatics, magic & pottery all culminating into the Indo-Pak Unity concert with performances from Tabla ecstacy and Fuzon, the Pakistani Band of “Mitwa" fame.
