Ganguly's brush with saris
Kolkata, Mar 9 (UNI) Having trailblazed back into the 22 yards, Sourav Ganguly is now making his presence felt in the nine-yard of cloth that women love to wear.
Even as the ambidextrous cricketer headed for the Caribbean islands, the saris in Bengal are creating quite a wave with Ganguly featuring in the 'anchals' (border) quite prominently.
With the World Cup bugle sounded and Ganguly making a fairy-tale comeback, the famed handloom weavers of West Bengal are encashing on the frenzy as 'Sourav saris' are set to hit the market.
Dada, as Ganguly is fondly called, is being featured on the Bengali 'tanter sari' (handloom sari) made at Katwa in Burdwan district, about 150 kms North of Kolkata.
''We are making about 150 pieces of Sourav Sari,'' a handloom weaver of Amdanga Tantubai Samity at Katwa said.
