Shopping Can Shed Light On Your Personality
ANI: Your shopping behaviour can actually indicate the kind of a person you are, a leading economist has suggested.
According to Dr. Paul Albanese, Kent State University associate professor of marketing and author of The Personality Continuum and Consumer Behaviour, the way one shops can shed light on the shopper"s personality.
To test his theory, Dr. Albanese examined shopping behaviour and classified it into four levels of personality development: Normal, neurotic, primitive and behaviour, compulsive shoppers,dr albanese, personality, psychotic.
According to his hypothesis, normal consumers spend less than what they earn, and save for future purchases they cannot afford in the future.
Neurotic shoppers are mostly window shoppers, who spend an excessive amount of time shopping, often not buying anything.
In addition, he found that compulsive shoppers usually fall within the primitive personality type, while behaviour compulsive shoppers,dr albanese, personality, psychotic personalities go overboard in spending, usually resulting in serious financial and legal problems.
“Normal consumers spend less than they earn and save for future purchases they cannot afford in the future, while neurotic shoppers spend an excessive amount of time shopping, often not buying anything," Dr Albanese said.
