Paris Hilton against her 45-day jail sentence. The hotel heiress, who was found guilty of violating her probation by driving with a suspended licence, has decided to abandon her appeal to escape prison.

The 'Simple Life' star initially branded the sentence "unfair" and ordered lawyers to file a notice to appeal.

Paris' lawyer notified Los Angeles County Superior Court of his client's decision, court spokeswoman Katherine Roberts revealed.

Paris will be placed in a special housing unit at Lynwood's Century Regional Detention Center, in a two-person cell reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates. She will be entitled to spend one hour outside her cell each day - to shower, exercise, make phone calls or watch TV.

Los Angeles County Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore has slammed reports that Paris could leave prison within hours of arriving due to the prison's overcrowding issues - and wouldn't reveal if special security arrangements have been made for her.

He says, "If anyone tries to take advantage of this situation they will be dealt with swiftly and harshly. This is not an e-ticket ride at Disneyland. This is a serious matter and it is not to be treated frivolously."

The 26-year-old, who is due to begin her sentence on June 5, will only serve half of her sentence - about 23 days - after being rewarded for good behaviour.
