Life Is Fulfilled For Anara Gupta
New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) Former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta, whose real life story unfolds on reel with 'Miss Anara' hitting the screens nationwide on June 22, said her motive in reliving the ''painful memories'' was to save others from undergoing a similar fate.
''What I went through was hell and reliving it all once again for the film was equally tortuous, but today I am happy that it will help others to save themselves from something, that pushed me to the limit that I did not want to live at all,'' she said.
Anara had been at the centre of an ongoing and widely publicised pornography and police scandal in Jammu and Kashmir since 2004, after being arrested following the circulation of a pornographic CD which allegedly featured her in October that year. Later, she retracted her confession and claimed to have been tortured and coerced by police into making a false confession during her detention.
The case against her was quashed by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court without charges. In August 2006, it ordered a fresh investigation into the case, following a petition claiming evidence about a pornography ring involving young girls and high-ranking politicians was being suppressed.
The film story depicts real life incidents that she underwent and is a message on how the 'system' in the society works, Anara told a press conference called to announce the launch of the film.
Asked why she did the film on the 'hell' that she went through, the former Miss Jammu said she wanted everyone to know what the actual reality was and not what mostly came out through the media and canards spread about her.
''Today I am happy that I have transcended from a phase where I did not want to live to a point where I have the confidence to pursue my career in films.'' Stating that she was studying Law and would continue to work in films, Anara said the confidence and hard work put in during the making of the film and the support of my near and dear ones had strengthened her resolve to take control of her life once again.
''Once again I feel I can live a normal life, once again I feel I can dream, once again I feel I can do something...'' Film Director K K Yadav said barring the songs the entire film has been on the lines Anara 'depicted' her story. ''It was all her excerpts.'' Denying that he faced any problem while making the film, Mr Yadav said, ''Except for some scenes of torture, there was no interference even from the censor board.'' Asked why he made the film on Anara, he said hearing her story moved him and prompted him to do something about the plight of such people.
