'Kalaripayattu' Reaches Foreign Shores

The five-thousand-year-old Kalari Payattu, an ancient martial art form of India's southern Kerala is fast traversing to foreign shores. People from all over the world are converging upon a small village in Kerala to learn 'Kalaripayattu', believed to cure injuries very fast.

Originally a traditional form of martial art that started in Kerala, Kalaripayattu is believed historians to be one of the oldest existing martial arts in the world. Legend traces the origin of Kalaripayattu to sage Parasurama, the master of all martial arts. It is believed that he re-claimed Kerala from the Arabian Sea and gifted the natives with the unique form of martial arts.
