Blinking lights, jovial processions, ear-piercing music, delicious dishes... the most common flashing images in our minds associated with any festival. But when Ganesh Chaturthi knocked at the door Apoorva, Vasavi, Mamta and Pooja, four friends from West Marredpally, Secunderabad, were all prepared to celebrate this festival in a special way probably the most spectacular way. There is a common saying that 'success doesn't mean doing different things but it is just doing things differently'. When four kids thought of doing something in a different way it caught the eye of public and obviously turned an eye opener to the society.

Ganesh Chaturthi is an Indian festival celebrated all over the country in a rich and elaborated manner. During this festival the idols of Lord Ganapati is placed and worshiped in colorfully decorated tents before the immersion of the idol in water, usually on the third day. Apoorva, Vasavi, Mamta and Pooja have had begun the preparations from the very beginning of the month to celebrate this festival in a way of their own, which really is appreciable. As people decorate the tents with colorful fabrics and materials, the four friends started collecting unwanted 'saris' from parents all of which would help them to decorate the tent. The zeal of the kids initiated elders to lend a helping hand. They managed to get an idol of Lord Ganapati as a donation which came as the first recognition of this kids' thought provoking act. When they immersed the idol in water to complete the ritual, they were communicating a new lesson of thoughtfulness, fraternity and determination.

When asked about the event Apoorva smiled for a while and told in an enthusiastic voice “I am so happy to have done 'Ganesha' in this special way and will try to do more in future". This particular event or the initiative taken by these four kids may not be of great worth to be spoken up, before the expensive decorations and mind blowing celebrations happened all over the country. But the desire to do something for the society and extend their hands to share the joy, how little it may be, is to be appreciated. By this act these kids were clearly stating that wonders and miracles are happened not only when divinity intervened, but also when striving hands and loving minds are bound together.

When for no reason people collect money in the name of gods and celebrations these girls didn't collect a single buck for arranging a beautiful 'Pandal' for their favourite God Ganapati, for it was their only wish to share the joy of this event with people around them. “ I told them not to collect money" said Damodar, Apoorva's father, when asked about this event. Let us spare a moment to learn a new lesson from this kids and to extend few words of appreciation, as their action may instigate at least some of us to dream and explore new heights of life where love is sown and reaped.
