Abolish Father's Day-Editorial

By Super Admin

One more father's day is at our doorstep on this June 17th 2007. It is a time to express your love to your adorable father. It is a time to thank them for lending a strong hand whenever you stutter in the path of life. However it is oxymeronically interesting and astonishing to note the that there is a cry to abolish this cherished day!

The National Organization for Women (NOW) and other women advocacy groups have filed suit against the Bush Administration seeking to abolish Fathers Day. They claim that since the day is reserved only for fathers, it shows discrimination against women.

The cry for the abolition of Father's day also put forward another important aspect. Women's organizations in the scene claimed that men are chiefly responsible for domestic violence and child sexual abuse. Those fathers are in fact hampering the healthy growth of their children. Since negligent fathers are more prevalent in the world, there is no need to celebrate father's day.

Women's organizations have something more important to charge against the celebration of father's day. They state that apart from providing their genes and sending money for the children, many fathers do not have a role in bringing up the children. Mothers carry their children in womb, providing flesh and blood, and foster them up with love and care. Women's organizations claim that there shouldn't be any day keeping them away from the scene.

Now, let us turn to the true facets of these accusations. It is true that women had to endure hardships beyond imagination under the ill treatments of men. Many mothers even had to witness their children crippled into lifeless states or unbearable traumas under the violence of their fathers. Many fathers were negligent to their children while building up their personal benefits.

But...Also look at the other side. Every bad news will have its glowing side also. There are many fathers in the world who burn their lives for the benefit of their children. In split family cases many children opt to live with their considerate fathers than with their demanding mothers. There are fathers who have sacrificed their career and reputation only to take care of their children, while their mothers were eager to reach up to the skies.

The final question is what is the need of unnecessary disputes? There are many things that women's organizations can do for the welfare of women. Why should they waste their precious time to fight out days that celebrate serene love? As they demand for equality, let men also enjoy equality as them. Apart from all issues, let this Father's Day be a special one for all the father's in the world. We wish you A Happy Father's Day!
