Police adopts daughter of Maoist
Warangal, Nov 14 (UNI) The Warangal district police has adopted the daughter of a CPI (Maoist) Central Committee member Lanka Papi Reddy alias Lachanna on the occasion of Children's Day today.
The police would bear all the educational expenditure of the 11-year-old Lanka Tejasri and provide accommodation till she completes her education, Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra said.
Ms Soumya said during the recent counselling of underground cadre parents, Laxmikanthamma, mother of the Maoist, informed the police that she was unable to bear the burden of Tejasri and was planning to stop sending her to school.
Wishing the child a bright future, Ms Soumya exhorted the underground cadres to give a thought to their family members. Leaving behind hopeless family members, in the name of revolution only amounts to relinquishing one's responsibility towards their parents and children, she said.
The SP handed over a cheque of Rs 40,000 to the authorities of an educational institution for the education of the girl in the presence of Warangal Range DIG Ravi Gupta.
