Paresh Rawal may have done plenty of comedies with young actors but most co-stars treat him respectfully on the sets. There's no back-slapping and fooling around with the senior Rawal. Especially because, Rawal maintains a serious demeanor off-screen.

However, at the outdoor schedule of Ashtavinayak's Golmal, Ajay Devgan along with director Rohit Shetty, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Sharman Joshi pulled a fast one on Rawal - something that he is still clueless about.

No nonsense Rawal
"We had a blast during the shooting of Golmal. We all got together and pulled a couple of pranks on Paresh Rawal. We all stayed at the same hotel. While my team and the rest of the cast occupied rooms on the first floor Paresh was on the ground floor. Being senior to us and an extremely disciplined person he would retire to his room and go to bed by 9.30 pm.

Meanwhile, the rest of us would roam around the lawns till 2 am. One day Ajay came up with an idea and we hatched a plot," informs Shetty.

Ajay's mastermind
Master prankster Ajay Devgan's plan was to spook out Rawal. "We made a big racket outside Paresh's room at 1.30am.

We used to kick at his door and then run away. Obviously, when Paresh checked he wouldn't find any source of the commotion. We did this a few times and a puzzled Paresh used to tell us, 'I think this hotel is haunted. Kuch gadbad hai, koi aake laath marta hai.

But I don't see anybody around.' And we would look at each other and try to supress our laughter. In fact, Paresh still doesn't know that it was us who played that trick on him. I hope he won't get upset after reading this," says Shetty.

Knock knock
Adds Tusshar Kapoor, "We played another prank on Pareshji during the climax shot. He was flying in and out as he had other commitments. Once he had to catch the 5 pm flight out, so Arshad, Ajay, Sharman and I plotted to delay the schedule by making an excuse.

Arshad said he had to get his make-up touched up, Ajay had to go to the bathroom, and Sharman and I, too, had an excuse ready.

Finally, an exasperated Pareshji screamed at us, 'can't you all get ready at the same time? Tum log ek saath kyon nahi sab karte?' Of course, later he caught on and admonished us in good humour."
