Best buddies hang out together, go shopping together and even share girlfriends, sometimes - but this is one of those rare times when one friend twisted his friend's arm into buying him a gift - a laptop worth over fifty thousand rupees.

It happened while Emraan Hashmi was shooting for Dil Diya Hai, directed by friend Aaditya Datt.

Emraan: Gizmo buff
Emraan laughs when quizzed about it. He admits that he made Aaditya buy the laptop, and adds jokingly, "I told him that's what he owed me as I am working in his second film after Aashiq Banaya Aapne. We were wandering around central London looking for the unit of Dil Diya Hai and had got lost.

While we were browsing through the shops I saw the latest Sony VAIO and insisted that Aaditya buy it for me - and he did!"

How come the Kissing King is attracted to techno stuff rather than girls, girls and more girls - something more keeping with his romantic flirtatious image? Replies Emraan, "That's just an image and an on-screen one. Off-screen, I am a gizmo addict. I can spend hours on my computer surfing the Net and catching up on news from all over the world."

No arm twisting
Aaditya Datt has just completed the shooting of Dil Diya Hai. We quizzed him about his lavish gift. Says Aaditya, "I don't remember the make, but it's a Sony VAIO and the latest in laptops, with over 60 GB in hard disk space. It is a laptop with the latest features including a DVD writer, camera and is very fast. I bought it from PC World in London and gifted it to him."

Did Emraan twist his arm to buy it? "Not really," he grins. "Emi is my buddy and he knows I am not the kind of guy whose arm can be twisted. He liked it, so I bought it for him."

Bachpan ke dost
How far back does their friendship go? "I know him since our schooldays - when we studied at Maneckji in Bandra. He was four years senior to me. After that, both of us assisted Vikram Bhatt in Kasoor.

He decided to become an actor and I turned to direction. I love working with Emraan, if the script suits him I will always cast him in my films. The best thing about Emraan, is the fact that he trusts me completely when it comes to scripts. He knows I will not let him down."

What's Dil Diya Hai about?
Aaditya, who has written the script reveals, "It's a romantic/action-drama, where all the three guys get connected to Geeta. It soon develops into a triangular love story. I finished shooting the film in 45 days." After Aashiq Banaya, the hit trio of Emraan, Aaditya and Himesh Reshammiya come together again.
