Kannada film actor-turned-politician
New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) Kannada film actor-turned-politician, M H Ambareesh today made his maiden entry into the Union Council of Ministers.
Known as ''Rebel Star Ambareesh'' among his fans, he belonged to a poor farmer's family. Joining the film industry after completing his pre-university course from Mysore, he started with small roles, even portraying a negative character in the film ''Nagara Havu,'' which was his debut film.
His major box office hit was the Kannada film ''Yelu Suttinna Kote'' with other notable films include Ranganayaki, Antha, Tony, Rani Maharani and Mannina Doni. Many of his roles were tailored to give him an image of an angry young man who was the victim of the corrupt system and in rebellion against it.
Joining politics in the late 1990s, he was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha from his native Mandya seat on a Janata Dal(S) ticket, but subsequently joined the Congress. He was re-elected in 1999 and 2004.

Chemicals,
the
Commitee
on
Papers
Laid
on
the
Table
and
the
Consultative
Committee,
Ministry
of
Petroleum
and
Natural

the
Committee
on
Communications
the
Consultative
Committee
of
the
Textile
Ministry
and
the
Committee
on
Human
Resource
Development
(13th
Lok
Sabha).
He
is
a
member
of
the
Committee
on
Health
and
Family
Welfare
in
the
present
Lok
Sabha.
