As a beginner it would be best to go for a fresh water aquarium with minimum decorations. At the start-up stage ideally the best fishes for aquariums would be the friendly types.

Goldfish: These are probably the most famous types of fish in the aquarium world. Though they produce a large amount of waste they are rather easy to maintain. However, do not keep these cold water fish in bowl as they need ample space to move and grow. If you are having goldfish have only goldfish in the tank.

Guppies: The guppies are originally tropical fish that require warm waters to survive but have now also got adapted to cold waters in aquariums. They are a good beginner’s option as the guppy is a rather tough and hardy type. The small size makes them quite ideal for aquarium living.

Zebra Danios: Like the guppy the zebra danios too are one the best fishes for aquarium adaptation. They can easily survive in temperatures in the mid-sixties, are tough, active and quite suitable for small tanks. Not being picky eaters adds on to their qualities and makes them a perfect choice for beginners.

Black Molly: Among all the variety of fishes of aquariums the black molly is definitely one that a beginner can pick up without hesitation. These highly adaptable fish easily adapt to fresh water, salt water and brackish water. They are community fish and can get along with other types in the tank.

White Cloud Mountain Minnow: These small and hardy gem-like mountain minnows can prove to be one of the best choices for beginner aquarium. They can withstand very cold weathers and prefer community living. It would be a good idea to have a group of around six to eight of mountain minnows in order to promote healthy growth and color in the fish.

Bloodfin Tetras: The bloodfin tetras could prove to be one of the hardiest fish in your aquarium. They are very active, love to move around in groups and are the peace loving types. If conditions allow they can live up to ten years.

Having an aquarium in the house is a pleasing site. The movement of fish, their shying away and digging into the gravel provide a pleasing and calm feeling. In order to experience these feeling it is important to take good care of the tank and the fish. You may get the best fishes for aquarium living but more importantly you need to ensure proper care.
