Pet Cat Shot 27 Times

By Staff

A pet cat named Possum has survived 27 bullet shots miraculously. The shots took place at point-blank range in head and neck.

The merciless torture on the cat has angered the animal welfare authorities who have voiced their protest against the cruel behavior. The cat was trapped in a cage about 9pm on February 27, and an air rifle was shoved in its face and mouth with two direct shots penetrating his tongue and lodging in his nasal cavity.

The investigations following the brutal act are being followed. The cat is yet to get 15 pellets removed in a surgery. Five pellets were pulled out by owner Jodi Mulley herself, while the other bullets that punctured the skin could not be found.

As reported the animal was caught in a cat trap somewhere at Portsmith, and repeatedly shot with the slug gun. One of the pellets narrowly missed the jugular vein. The cat was treated by Greencross Veterinarians principal surgeon Max Fargher, after the cat was turned down by four veterinarians.

Max confessed that in his 18 years of experience, he had never witnessed such a brutal attack on an animal."In general, this is the worst episode of animal cruelty I've ever seen," Cairns.com.au quoted him as saying.
