Thinking Of Buying A New Dog ? Read This First

Are you thinking of buying a new dog that would add loads of fun and faithful companionship for years to come? Then here is a complete guide for you to bring home the best breed. Read on.
The best age:
The best age to take the puppy home is 7- 8 weeks, as it is vitally important it is with its mother and siblings up to this age. Before buying one make sure you visit the puppy at least twice, first when it is 4-5 weeks old and again when you pick up the pup after four weeks. If you would love to go for an adult dog from a rescue center it is a good options too as the older you get a dog, the less work it will be. Moreover you just need, little patience to bind with it well.
Dog size and temperament :
Size of the dog, may not seem to be a necessary criteria while picking up a pup from a pet store, but it ofcourse adds on to your normal way of living and lifestyle when it grows up. Decide whether yo need a large, medium-sized or small dog. If you are looking for the large ones then go for breeds like Great Dane which can grow upto 42 inches at the shoulder, but can be really gentle giant in temperament.
If you love the cuddly miniature ones then Daschund in the best choice, as these grow just few inches off the ground. However, don't take them as the timid group from the hundreds of breeds, as they can be the best alert watchdogs. Some choose dog breeds that have lesser or long coats. For instance go for Golden Retriever if you love pets with long coats or Doberman for short coats. You even have other choices like the German Shepherd and the Labrador which have medium coat with medium size and temperament. Their best three qualities makes them an excellent pet for children to play with and even for guarding purposes.
If you have a small house that can barely fit another huge animal without an outdoor yard, then choose smaller size dogs, as the larger ones will use a lot of space that you may need.
Condition:
Examine the animal before bringing it home. Make sure it has no signs of discharge from eyes, ears, nose, lameness... etc. Ensure it has clean and shiny coat. If dried stools are stuck to its coat, it may not be healthy. If possible get a vet to examine it well.
Where do I buy pet dogs ?
Avoid buying pet dog from puppy breeding factories. They are breeding farms where thousands of dogs are kept imprisoned for life churning out puppies to sell to pet shop industries. The puppies from these farms are very unhealthy. However if you would still wish to buy from this place then check the parents of the puppy for a strong back and hips. The hips should be well rounded and the back bone should not sag, as it may be a hereditary problem that may give your puppy a poor gait and disposition.
At a pet shop, look at the condition of the facility. Avoid buying a pup from the shop if its
You can consider buying one from an individual who has advertised in your local newspaper. One of the best option that I would suggest is petfinder.com. It is an excellent place to find a dog as many across U.S post their available dogs here.
Should I buy a male or female puppy?
A male pup will surely grow into a handsome beast, but will surely try your patience for 18 long months before it molds itself into an elegant animal. If you can tolerate with all its mischief work with a bright smile then go for it. A female pup may be a joyful ride in the beginning, but as she grows into beautiful dog she will attract the attention of all the dogs in the neighborhood to mate and procreate. At this period you should be careful and protect her from unwanted mating. Later when she has puppies she will need extra care and even a vet too. Therefore if you are not prepared to take up the burden of breeding and puppies then avoid buying female dogs. However if you wold love to see innumerable puppies filing the yard then go for it.
